For Eli - Please let him read it

Eli, isn't this a cool way to sell candy?

Do you think kids like this when they see it on the street?

What kind of candy looks good to you?

Love ya,

Dadster

From Mom on Monday

hello Micky D, da Big E, and Gramma Faye -- I feel like we have been talking all day long. It is so cool to blog with you guys. It seems like you are right here with us and we are tracking along with you guys.

I had a great day today while Dad was working away. I slept late and had a leisurely breakfast that included an indulgent 3 croissants. I then went for a spectacular jog along the Med down to the port of Nice. A Club Med cruise ship was docked there -- it looked really cool, maybe we should do that sometime. I ran past all these enormous yachts that must be owned by mega-billionaires.

I came back, got showered and headed out on the tour bus for the "grand tour". I got off at the Matisse Museum which is in a house that Matisse once lived in. After a delicious lunch of salad nicoise, which was pleasantly interrupted by a phone call from you guys, I came back to the old town for some shopping. Nothing to buy yet, just doing my scoping for tomorrow's big shopping day. I did manage to find a gelateria for an afternoon ice cream -- mint chocolat chip, of course!

After a relaxing few hours in the hotel room lounging and reading, I am now dressed up and ready for dinner. We are going to some cool village for dinner overlooking the Med. We will post pics later. Lub to all.

afternoon update

Nice work cracking the code, guys! I hope you're having fun with all your play dates stacked up today!

I've just finished up with about 11 hours of nonstop meetings... groan. Going to meet up with mom and go out to dinner. We'll take some pictures and post them later today.
Hope you're having fun. Save some ice cream for me!
Da Dadster

The next clue

So you guessed the event, my little chicks...

Maybe you'll have more trouble figuring this:

The prize you seek
is not for the meek.

It's in a place that holds
the numbers from a race

It's in a bag, on a wall,
You'll have to climb up, just don't fall!

The bag says CVS,
you know the rest

Have fun, and as always,
DON'T RUN!

Lub,

Dadster

Monday morning

... Ok, I'm up early and ready to goto work. I woke up at 6:15 Nice time, which is 12:15 am Boston time (think middle of the night). I was going to go running but it was pitch dark outside and about 50 degrees. I got back into bed instead.

Ok, gang, clue #1 about your secret gift:

Your gift is to be used soon,
something you don' t do in your room.

If you use it right,
you will cause a fright,
in the middle of the night...

It's not yellow,
it's not green,
it's special for _________!

(if you think you know what I'm talking about, leave a comment at the bottom of this posting)

Ok, tim eto go to work! (Mom is still asleep in bed!)

Day 2: Sunday (Mom wrote)

We slept late for us 8:30 and went down for breakfast. We get a great breakfast buffet at our hotel which is included. I had my first cuppa French coffee – quite strong and very good. We also had croissants – yummy. We then went for a very long run along the Mediterranean – the plage boardwalk. Weather again is perfect. Dad went swimming in the ocean when we finished. Water is crystal clear with visibility of over 100 feet. The beach doesn’t have sand; it is all rocks.

Michela and Eli there was a guy with a candy cart on the beach selling bags of candy for 2 or 4 Euro. Very cool.

I am impressed with how clean this city is – no trash and very well kept. It is truly beautiful and with the bright sun and clear blue sky, it is perfect.

It is now noon and we are heading out to go on a tour bus around Nice. It has 11 stops at various sites like some museums. We can get on and off the bus at check out each spot.

Here are some more pictures, seems like it is hard to put them inline

Day 1: Saturday (Dad wrote)

We had a long, crowded flight on British Airways from Boston to London. The flight was packed and we had no leg room at all. I sat in a window seat and Mom was in the middle. The guy who was on the aisle went to sleep before we were even in the air and so it was impossible to get up and walk around.

Oh well, at least we had some movies to watch (anyone recognize this one?)

Finally, the sun came up and we landed in London.

We got to spend 2 hours in the London Airport going form one line to the next. At least we had a nutritious breakfast of chocolate and Hula Hoops. Remember them from our trip to London?

Finally, we got on the plane to Nice. We slept the whole way and woke up just in time to see the ocean (the Mediterranean) where we would be staying.

We got out passports stamped and took a taxi to the hotel. It had an interesting elevator, have you ever been on floor 0? (maybe the elevator designer was a computer scientist at heart!)

Anyway, it was 75 degrees and gorgeous in Nice. We went out for a long walk; this beach is across the street form our hotel.

Everyone was out; there were lots of shops and open-air markets. Even a guy playing his accordion! We had lunch at a nice little café. Mom had a salad and I had an omelet on a big baguette (French bread). It was yummy, and we even had a little wine to go with it.

After a late lunch, we walked around some more and took pictures of all the cool alleys in the old city. Finally, we came back to the hotel for nap.

When we woke up, it was dark outside. We wandered around and found a nice restaurant for dinner. I had fish and Mom had Steak Frites. Guess what that is?

For dessert we had some gelato and then went to sleep after a long day (or was it two days?)

Here is the view from our hotel room.
